What do global feminists do to rest?

Posted on 12th August 2024

What do global feminists do to rest?

In a world that often demands relentless activism and advocacy, it’s also essential to recognise the importance of rest for sustaining our movement. After all, what’s the point of revolution if we can’t dance?

Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation, and that is an act of political warfare. – Audre Lorde

Here are what three of our global feminist changemakers do to unwind and recharge:

“I head directly into nature, usually to be in a body of water.” – Gemma Cairney, broadcaster, journalist and author

“Last year, I returned to regular ashtanga yoga practice. I have really enjoyed the harmony and balance it brings to my busy life!” – Marika Somero, Head of London Pro Bono practice at Debevoise & Plimpton

“Since my parents bought me a jigsaw when I was 14, I’ve always been one to try a new project. Or I unwind in front of the TV watching Liverpool FC!” – Amarachi Clarke, Trustee of The Circle

Here are some resources and fun reads to give you an idea on what you can do:
