We cannot escape the stark facts. One in three women in the world will experience violence in their lifetime, 300 million women and girls are living in extreme poverty and figures suggest we are still 134 years away from achieving
gender equality.
Despite some hard-won gains globally, The Circle’s goal to ensure all women and girls can live safely and equally, is more at risk and more urgent than ever before.
We live in unprecedented times, with the world an increasingly dangerous place for many women. Since our last strategy was set, we’ve seen the erosion of women’s rights in parts of the world. The Taliban has regained control in Afghanistan, imposing gender apartheid, and global funding cuts are having a devastating impact on millions of women and girls.
Over the next three years, we must navigate these political and financial challenges with bold determination.
Our approach includes increasing investment in frontline, women-led organisations, and tackling systemic barriers to ending violence against women and economic injustice. We will demand justice for survivors of gender-based violence and reinvigorate campaigns for living wages in global supply chains. We will leverage our expertise in grant-making, advocacy, and our bold network of high-level women and allies to make lasting progress for women and girls.
History has shown us change is possible. The time to act is now, and our resolve is unwavering. Join us!
