Joint Head of Communications

Georgette Thomas
“The idea is to write it so that people hear it and it slides through the brain and goes straight to the heart.” – Maya Angelou

Spanning over 20 years as a journalist, story gatherer and comms strategist, Georgette has focused her energy and determination on addressing some of the key issues of our time facing the world’s poorest and disadvantaged people.

Underpinning her career, which has been dominated by significant periods at Comic Relief, Oxfam and the BBC, has been her core passion and belief in the power of telling people’s stories. Time after time Georgette has seen the positive impact of the process for those people being heard by sharing their story in written, audio or film form, as well as the power the narratives have in supporting a campaign that seeks to transform the world for the better.

Both in the UK and abroad, from South Sudan and Sierra Leone to Stoke-on-Trent, Georgette has prioritised projects that focus on tackling often interlinking issues including women’s rights, combatting gender-based violence, climate change, fair treatment for refugees, access to education, mental health & inequality.

Georgette is hugely proud to be in a feminist jobshare at The Circle, working with incredible women across the planet who are all fighting together for a fairer world for women and girls.
