Webfala Digital Skills For All Initiative
We are proud to work in partnership with Webfala Digital Skills For All Initiative, a non-profit organisation equipping women and girls in Nigeria with STEM skills and digital literacy.
Nigeria is Africa’s most populous country and one of the continents largest economies, yet many Nigerians still face navigating a complex economic landscape. Among women in the region, vulnerable employment looms at over 84%. In addition, 13% of women report physical or sexual violence by a partner, but stigma remains a significant barrier to addressing this issue effectively.
Webfala is a non-profit organisation equipping women and girls in Nigeria with skills in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) and digital literacy. They empower women living in underprivileged communities with tools to shape their future.
With support from The Circle, they are providing 400 survivors of sexual and gender-based violence with STEM-centred education as well as practical experience through internships and a professional social network.
This scheme supports sexual and gender based violence survivors in gaining skills and work experience for long-term employability while offering a community where individuals can be supported and encouraged. Participants are also empowered with an opportunity to create social change, with a chance to apply their learning in a student-led project developing tech solutions that can help other survivors of violence.
